INVENTORY

Before purchasing of any vessel for recycling, the most important document a ship-owner submits is “Inventory of Hazardous Materials” (IHM).

IHM is one of the most crucial documents for carrying out sustainable green ship recycling without tampering with Human Health and Environment.

IHM lays down different types of hazardous wastes a vessel is carrying and also specifies the location which makes it less time consuming for the ship recyclers to locate such hazardous wastes.

Handling Procedure and methods adopted by: Lucky Steel Industries [SBD]

• Identify the area or material containing asbestos.
• Apply water through spray or appropriate method & ensure the wet condition.
• Never Drill, Hammer, Break, Cut the asbestos contained material.
• Asbestos contained material / piping to be removed from joints and if possible cover such material through plastic or apply any kind of hardener.
• Handle such material carefully and if required use crane / wire rope or appropriate method to transfer the material to Asbestos Room.
• Always wear specifically designed PPE (Helmet, Positive Pressure Mask and Cloths with safety shoes, hand gloves) during removal of ACM.
• After removal process of ACM, take shower (bath) with & without PPE.
• On collection of asbestos contained material, store the same in designated storage area.
• Authorized and trained people shall remove the material in Asbestos removal room and during removal ensure to start the Air Filtration System. If AMP Meter of Machine is fluctuating then clean the air filter.
• Asbestos shall be packed in Plastic Bag and stored in designated area.
